Quesnel Council Highlights - May 3rd Meeting

Council gave final approval to a five-year financial and tax regulations Rates. There will be an average increase in total municipal tax of 4.1% for most classes, including residential. This increase is $ 25.04 for the municipal portion of the average home valued at $ 164 260. This is based on the average assessment increase of 4.3% of Quesnel. If the evaluation of a home increased by more than average, the tax increase is above the average, if less, the tax increase is less. The Council also considered a paper setting out the taxes paid in 2010 communities with populations ranging from 6,000 to 50,000.Quesnel residents, based on an average home, paid the least taxes (property taxes in both total and general municipal taxes) of 50 communities, according to figures provided by the Ministry of Community Development and Sports culture. A silent auction will be held at the Quesnel and District Twin Arenas May 17, 18 and 19 to dispose of surplus property in the possession of the City. Many items, including bicycles, electronic equipment, tools, jewelry, clothing, sporting goods and office supplies are available. Notice of the sale will be displayed in Quesnel Cariboo Observer.There will be opportunities for on-site observation, with all items sold in as is condition. Open fires are limited in the jurisdiction of the Cariboo Fire Centre as of May 2 The restriction will be in place until September 30 or until further notice. It prohibits fires more than one meter by one meter, the burning of stubble or grass, or using fireworks or burning barrels. City residents, however, are limited to the year in the light half a meter by half a meter in a safe, home backyard.
