Toy Soldiers, Military Art, Trains and Other Toys (at exit 90 of I-95 across from Mystic Aquarium) This sale is a single estate collection of over 2000 toy lead soldiers, over 1500 pieces of related art work depicting period correct uniforms, major battles etc., all from the collection of Norman & Lisl Cooke of Glocester, RI, well known for many years in the miniature solder collecting community. The Cookes collected, traded, bought, sold, and MADE historically accurate miniatures, under the name "Historic Miniatures" in the earlier years of their venture, and under the name "Lance Miniatures" later. In addition to the enormous collection of their own figures, there are pieces by important artists and factories, including, but not limited to the following: R. Berdou, Paris • R. Courtenay, England Over 200 Britains • CGB Made in France (Mignot & Conniseur) Eire (Authenticast) • Eire HE • J. Hill & Co. • Rose The Warren lines • Franc • Made in France HR Products (2 Indians 1963) • A few Japanese made Imrie Risley • Lincoln Logs • Le Cimier Over 25 dioramas including a 4 foot long parade march returning home. There are even Christmas ornament dioramas most likely made by Lisl Cooke where the frame of the dioramas is a chicken egg for some and goose egg for the larger ones! Any comedy named A Good Old Fashioned Orgy could serve up the crudeness and raunch but not follow through with the actual title.
So for their boldness in keeping their promise alone, writers-directors Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck deserve credit. But they deserve most of their credit for making a consistently funny comedy that goes beyond the mere prospect of the title event. As a group of longtime friends about to lose their weekend getaway home plan for their final hurrah a big bang, the lead-up and its expected individual dramas, insecurities supply a lot of witty and true character-driven laughs amid the group.
The core unit may be populated by recognizable stock types (the party guy, the shy girl, the psychoanalyst, the nerd, the boorish one, etc.), but each are played with aplomb by the ensemble, which shares a great collective chemistry and sense of timing; a nice romantic rapport also develops between Jason Sudeikis (as the ringleader of the group) and Leslie Bibb (as the realtor trying to sell the house)–making for a film that is equally convincing at selling some heart as well as outrageous raunch.
