Fuel Injector Cleaning Machine | Injector Cleaning
I had new plugs and wires installed a few months ago and the truck ran fine for a little while. Then the truck started losing a lot of power and it would seem like it skipped when you give it gas. It would have trouble just getting up to 30mph.. when i took it to autozone i had them hook it up to the machine and it read a code that was cylinder 1 misfire.
Has anyone ever had this happen?
Some days the truck will run decent (still skip a little), and other days it skips so bad, your embaressed to drive it! Next, im going to try changing the cap and rotor, but i think the ones that are on there are pretty new as it is. Anyone have any suggestions on wat i should try next?
Bringing it to the shop is my last resort because im a poor college student .. but should i bring it in and have them clean the injectors?
well, a cylinder 1 misfire can be a lot of things, but you pretty much have covered a lot with the plug and wire replacement. the caps and rotors on these trucks are notorious for gathering moisture and misfiring, to the point of a no start condition. the best thing you can do at this point is to replace the cap and rotor. be careful with the rear torx screw as it can be a pain in the butt to remove and reinstall. i think they are a T25 for the cap and a T20 for the rotor, or is it T20 for the cap and T15 for the rotor? regardless, you need some torx bits for the removal and reinstall process. if none of this works, you might have a sticking poppet valve in your injector assembly, and you should take it to a dealership for thier nitrogen service.
