According to a recent release from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, the number of housing starts taking place during August decreased overall.
During the month, the seasonally adjusted annual rate declined to 184,700 units from 204,500 properties in July 2011. The adjusted annual rate of urban starts also fell, dropping 10.2 percent to 165,800 in August. Multiple urban starts decreased 15.5 percent on an adjusted annual basis to 101,400 units, while urban single starts were down 0.3 percent to an adjusted pace of 64,400.
