Primary Function & Major Responsibilities Interpreter will be expected to float to all HealthEast sites. May be asked to be on-call after hours or weekend.
Is responsible for spoken English - Sign language interpretation between deaf and hearing individuals.
Serves as a cultural bridge between the Deaf Community and medical personnel.
Provides outreach to the Deaf Community.
Communicates the equipment and medical needs of the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing patient to ensure patient safety and satisfaction.
Partners with patient and clinicians to deliver accurate communication between patients and clinicians.
Provides Interpreter Services in hospital and clinic settings as requested.
Ensures auxiliary aids needed are set up properly for Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing patients in coordination with in-patients and ambulatory areas.
Helps identify areas where some education is needed.
Floats to all sites when needed.
